Studio Pierrot moved the goalposts on the Bleach endgame. On Saturday, September 12, the production committee for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity said episodes 49 and 50 — the last two of the whole adaptation — will now air Monday, October 19 and Monday, October 26 at 24:00 JST. The stated reason is quality work on the climax, not a scheduling collision.
Quick answer
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Calamity episodes 49 and 50 are delayed to Monday, October 19 and Monday, October 26, 2026, both at 24:00 JST (effectively midnight into the next day). The production committee says the staff is improving the animation as the series reaches its climax. Four older episodes air in the gap as a "climax selection" rerun block. The Calamity is the fourth and final cour of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime, adapting manga volumes 55-74 through the ending. Per SenpaiRanks, the original Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen cour holds an adjusted score of 8.93, near the top of the entire shonen board.
The delay, plainly
Two episodes, pushed roughly a month. That is it. No cour split, no hiatus announcement, no staff shake-up disclosed. The committee framed it as polish time for the ending, which is the version of a delay you actually want when 74 volumes of manga are about to land their final beat.
It is worth remembering the whole Thousand-Year Blood War project has been built this way: four cours with deliberate breaks between them, starting October 2022. Pierrot has never tried to run it continuously. The October slip is consistent with a production that keeps buying itself room rather than shipping on a broken schedule.
What airs in the gap
The committee filled the empty weeks with a "climax selection" of reruns, which doubles as a decent catch-up plan if you have fallen behind:
- Saturday, September 19, 11:15 p.m. JST — Episode 7, "Born in the Dark"
- Saturday, September 26, 11:00 p.m. JST — Episode 28, "Kill the King"
- Monday, October 5, 24:00 JST — Episode 46, "The End"
- Monday, October 12, 24:00 JST — Episode 48, "The End Two World"
Episodes 46 and 48 are the immediate lead-in. If you only have time for two, watch those.
Where to watch
The Calamity premiered July 25, 2026 on TV Tokyo at 11:00 p.m. JST, then rolled out to BS TV Tokyo (July 27), AT-X (August 2), Hiroshima TV and Niigata Broadcasting (August 4) and Sendai Broadcasting (August 10). Japanese streaming services picked it up July 26 at noon.
Internationally the arc streams through the same partners that carried the first three cours — Disney+ in most territories, Hulu in the United States. Viz Media and Fathom Entertainment also put the first three episodes in 943 US theaters on June 25-29, in Japanese with subtitles and with the English dub, packaged with a behind-the-scenes conversation featuring Tite Kubo, chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi and series director Hikaru Murata. That theatrical run is over; the October episodes are a home-viewing event.

How the arc scores
SenpaiRanks tracks Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen — the 2022 opening cour — at an adjusted 8.93, which puts it in the top tier of the shonen board. That number is the reason a two-week delay reads as caution rather than trouble: this adaptation has been the rare long-running revival that got better than its source-era anime, and nobody involved wants the last two episodes to be the ones people screenshot for the wrong reasons.
SenpaiRanks scores on two axes rather than one. Consensus measures how broadly a show is liked; Quality measures how well it holds up on rewatch. MyAnimeList and IMDb publish a single blended number, which flattens exactly the distinction that matters for a finale — a show can be universally watched and still fumble its landing. Both axes live on the show's page, and if you have already seen the arc you can rate it yourself and watch where your take sits against the crowd.
The read
October 26 is now the date the Bleach anime ends, after thirty years of manga and twenty of television. Everything between now and then is scheduling noise. Mark the two Mondays, use the rerun block to reload on episodes 46 and 48, and treat the extra month as the staff doing the thing fans have asked studios to do for a decade.
