The Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise is going for a Guinness World Record. On Sunday, September 27, the official account announced that its new short anime Umayuru Full Gate! is attempting the record for "Most Speaking Characters in a Short-form Animation Series Based on a Video Game." Guinness will announce in March 2027 whether it succeeded.
The pitch
Umayuru Full Gate! is a sequel to Uma Yuru, the 2022 chibi short series. It premiered on the franchise's official YouTube channel on Friday, September 25, and new episodes follow broadcasts of the PakaLive TV stream. Like its predecessor, it's a low-key gag short built from the mobile game's huge roster. That roster is exactly what makes a "most speaking characters" record realistic: the game has more than a hundred named horse girls, and each one has a voice actress.
Why the game matters here
The Uma Musume Pretty Derby game launched in Japan in February 2021 after a long delay, and its English version came out in June 2025. It won Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2025. The record attempt is a way to show off the scale of that cast while the franchise waits for its next full TV anime. The most recent one, Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray, ran two split cours from April to December 2025. SenpaiRanks tracks Cinderella Gray at 7.26 adjusted.
