The TV anime of Kuzushiro's yuri manga The Moon on a Rainy Night (*Amayo no Tsuki*) released its first full promotional video on October 7, revealing the leads: Iori Saeki as Saki Kindaichi and Sora Amamiya as Kanon Oikawa. It premieres in 2027.
The story
Kodansha USA, which publishes the manga in English, describes it this way: on a rainy night, Saki, a pianist on her way to a lesson, crashes into a beautiful long-haired girl. The next morning that girl is sitting next to her in class. Kanon is very hard of hearing, reads lips up close and keeps everyone at a distance, until Saki's kindness starts to get through. Kuzushiro launched the manga on Kodansha's Comic Days in June 2021, and the 12th volume came out in Japan on June 19.
Who's making it
Tomoe Makino (*Aharen-san wa Hakarenai*, A Tale of the Secret Saint) directs at CompTown. Shōgo Yasukawa (*Food Wars!*) writes the scripts and Ayumi Nishibata (*Otherside Picnic*) designs the characters. New staff includes assistant directors Seung Deok Kim and Tsutomu Tomoyuki, sound director Nobuyuki Abe, and the band jizue on music. jizue is a fitting choice for a story built around a piano player.
