Hideo Kojima turns up in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator voices Hideyoshi Oshima, the braindance producer he played as a cameo in Cyberpunk 2077. He shared the news himself on X with photos from the recording session, per Anime News Network.
Why it's a fun one
Oshima was a small side character in CD PROJEKT RED's game, an obvious nod to Kojima's real-world status in Japanese gaming, and players hunted him down as an easter egg. Bringing him into the anime keeps a running joke between the studio and Kojima going, and it rewards viewers who know the game without asking anyone else to.
Where to watch Edgerunners 2
The 10-episode Studio Trigger sequel has been on Netflix worldwide since October 20, 2026. It's a standalone story with a new lead cast, so you don't need David and Lucy's arc to follow it, though the first Cyberpunk: Edgerunners holds an 8.09 adjusted score on SenpaiRanks and is worth your time anyway. Our Edgerunners 2 release and where-to-watch guide covers the cast and soundtrack, and the best cyberpunk anime ranking has more Night City-adjacent picks.
