The remake of Type-Moon's 2010 PSP RPG lands January 28, 2027 on Switch 2, Switch, PS5, PS4 and Steam. Which is the usual cue for someone to ask the question the Fate franchise has been dodging for fifteen years: what order do you actually watch this thing in?

- Fate/Grand Order: Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia (2019) — the mobile game's best-loved arc.
- Fate/EXTRA Last Encore (2018, SHAFT, 10 episodes, Netflix) — the one that matters for Fate/Extra Record, since both come out of the same "Extraverse" continuity. It is also famously the hardest Fate anime to follow cold.
- Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya — magical-girl spin-off, tonally a different franchise.
Where the game fits
Fate/Extra Record is a remake, not a sequel: Type-Moon studio BB is rebuilding the 2010 Fate/EXTRA with Arco Wada's character designs, and Aniplex is publishing.
