Kojima Productions released a teaser visual, a teaser promo and a fuller staff list for Death Stranding: Isolations on October 30, its anime series based on Hideo Kojima's 2019 game. The headline hasn't changed since the show was announced in November 2025: it premieres worldwide on Disney+ in 2027. What's new is the team, and it's a strong one.
Quick answer
Death Stranding: Isolations is an anime series adapting Kojima Productions' Death Stranding, produced at E&H Production and directed by Takayuki Sano, with original character designs by Ilya Kuvshinov. It premieres worldwide on Disney+ in 2027. No exact date or episode count has been announced. SenpaiRanks tracks the series on its ranking board, which opens for votes once it airs. A separate anime film, Death Stranding Mosquito (working title), is in production at ABC Animation Studio.

Who's making it
Per MyAnimeList's report on the Kojima Productions announcement, the staff is:
- Director: Takayuki Sano (assistant director on 2026's Magic Knight Rayearth), at E&H Production
- Series composition and script: Tow Ubukata (*RWBY: Ice Queendom*)
- Character design: Sayaka Koiso (*Jujutsu Kaisen* Season 2), from Ilya Kuvshinov's originals (*Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045*)
- Art director and color script: Yann Le Gall (*Ramen Akaneko*)
- Director of photography: Ju-mi Lee (*Ninja Kamui*)
- Editing: Keisuke Yanagi (*Ranma ½*, 2024)
- Sound director: Shuuhei Abe
E&H Production also made Ninja Kamui, so the photography credit is a familiar pairing. Ubukata is the name to watch: he wrote Psycho-Pass 2 and Ghost in the Shell: Arise, and his scripts get mixed reactions.
How to read it
Death Stranding is a strange fit for TV. The game is about walking, packages and isolation, so an anthology title like Isolations suggests side stories in the same world rather than a retelling of Sam Porter Bridges' trip. Disney+ is also making a bigger push into anime: it has The Fable Season 2 lined up for January 2027. The game has reached more than 20 million players since 2019, which explains why Disney bought it as a worldwide release.
The other Death Stranding anime
Death Stranding Mosquito is a separate film at ABC Animation Studio, with no release window yet. Kojima fans can also catch his cameo in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
