Date A Live is ending on the big screen. A teaser released on October 25 confirmed that Date A Live F Last Date, the finale first announced without a format, is a theatrical film opening in Japan on March 26, 2027. That's 14 years after Shido first went on a date to save the world. If you're catching up before it lands, here's the full watch order, where to stream each season, and how the franchise ranks.
Quick answer
Date A Live F Last Date is an anime film opening in Japanese theaters on March 26, 2027, directed by Junji Nishimura, written by Fumihiko Shimo and with character designs by Naoto Nakamura, distributed by ANIMEC. The main cast returns, led by Nobunaga Shimazaki (Shido) and Marina Inoue (Tohka). Before watching, you need five TV seasons (2013, 2014, 2019, 2022, 2024) plus an optional 2015 film. Seasons III–V stream on Crunchyroll, and the early seasons sit in the same library. According to SenpaiRanks, Date A Live IV is the franchise's best-scored TV season at 7.53, ahead of II and III (7.21 each).

What the teaser tells us
The teaser's main job was settling the format: a single film rather than a TV season for the ending. Shimo returns to the script and Nakamura to character design. The new pieces are Nishimura as director and Fugaku as the animation studio, the fifth production house across five TV seasons and a film. The cast list reads like a reunion: Shimazaki, Inoue, Misuzu Togashi, Ayana Taketatsu, Iori Nomizu, Asami Sanada, Maaya Uchida, Sarah Emi Bridcutt, Minori Chihara, Ayumi Mano, Hitomi Nabatame, Akari Kageyama and Aya Endō are all back.

Where to watch Date A Live
Crunchyroll is the main home in the US: Seasons III, IV and V stream there with English dubs on select seasons, and the Funimation-era Seasons I and II moved over with that library. No international release for Last Date has been announced. Theatrical anime often reach Crunchyroll or a distributor like GKIDS several months after Japan, so expect a 2027 window at the earliest.
Does the ranking match the reputation?
Fans usually say Date A Live peaked with Season II's Kurumi arc, then dipped in Season III before Season IV recovered. Our board partly agrees. IV leads the TV seasons at 7.53, and the Kurumi Star Festival OVA (7.64) beats every TV season, which shows how much the fandom loves Kurumi. Season V at 7.07 is the lowest score in the franchise, so Last Date has ground to make up. Think V deserves better? Rate it before March. The consensus board shows where the fandom stands, which a single MyAnimeList average doesn't.
The light novel's creator Koushi Tachibana is also behind King's Proposal, which just got its own 2027 anime. For other big 2027 premieres, see our spring 2027 release-date guide and the Kaiju No. 8: The Final Mission movie, another TV series ending in theaters. Date A Live's place among other adaptations is on our best light novel anime ranking.
