Romance is the genre where taste splits hardest — one viewer's slow-burn masterpiece is another's slog. So instead of one opaque number, here's the 2026 shortlist ranked on SenpaiRanks' dual-axis board: Consensus (how broadly it's loved) and Quality (whether it holds up), combined into the adjusted score. Six titles, ranked, with where to stream each.
Quick answer
The best romance anime to watch in 2026, per SenpaiRanks' adjusted ranking, are Kaguya-sama: Love is War – Ultra Romantic (8.34), Toradora! (8.04), My Dress-Up Darling (7.98), Horimiya (7.94), Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You (7.94), and A Sign of Affection (7.31). Most stream on Crunchyroll, with Kimi ni Todoke also on Netflix. According to SenpaiRanks, these lead the romance board on both Consensus and Quality.

What to watch for
The gap between Kaguya-sama's 8.34 and A Sign of Affection's 7.31 isn't "better or worse" — it's how they win. The comedy-forward titles top Consensus because they land with everyone; the quieter josei entries reward Quality voters who value craft over crowd-pleasing. That split is the whole point of two axes, and it's why we don't hand you a single MyAnimeList figure and call it done.
