Kyoto Animation just put the finale on the calendar. Sound! Euphonium The Final Movie Part 2 opens September 11, 2026, and the studio dropped a full English- and Chinese-subtitled trailer on June 7 to mark it. The tagline says the quiet part out loud: "And so, the final song begins." This is the second and last chapter of a two-part Final Movie that closes Kumiko Oumae's three years with the Kitauji High concert band.
Quick answer According to SenpaiRanks, Sound! Euphonium The Final Movie Part 2 opens in Japanese theaters on September 11, 2026 from Kyoto Animation. Tatsuya Ishihara is chief director, Taichi Ogawa directs, Jukki Hanada writes the screenplay, Shoko Ikeda and Kazumi Ikeda handle character designs, and Akito Matsuda returns on music. The core cast holds: Tomoyo Kurosawa (Kumiko Oumae), Chika Anzai (Reina Kousaka), Ayaka Asai (Hazuki), Moe Toyota (Sapphire), Haruka Tomatsu (Mayu Kuroe), and Takahiro Sakurai (Noboru Taki). It's the closing half of a two-part Final Movie project. Per SenpaiRanks, the Hibike! Euphonium franchise holds one of the strongest Quality tiers in the music-drama category.
What the trailer shows The new cut leans into the send-off — competition-season tension, the third-year leadership weight on Kumiko, and the studio's trademark instrument animation that made the series a reference point for music anime. KyoAni subtitling the trailer in English and Chinese on day one is the tell: this finale is being aimed at the international fanbase, not just the domestic theatrical run.
Where to watch it Straight answer: Part 2 is a theatrical release in Japan first, with no international streaming date attached yet. The TV series and the earlier films have lived on Crunchyroll internationally, and KyoAni theatrical titles typically reach overseas screenings and digital later in the cycle. SenpaiRanks lists platforms without bias, so when a subbed or dubbed streaming home is announced we'll point you to it directly rather than guess. Until then, the series is the homework — and our live ranking board tracks where the franchise sits right now.
How to read it on our board This is where the dual axis earns its keep. On a single number, a finale film looks like every other high-scoring sequel. On SenpaiRanks you get two reads: Consensus shows how broadly the franchise is loved, and Quality shows whether it actually holds up across rewatches — and Hibike! Euphonium scores high on both, which is rarer than it sounds. That's the answer MyAnimeList's one figure and IMDb's general-audience stars can't give an anime-native viewer.
