The official JoJo's Bizarre Adventure X account announced the supporting cast for Steel Ball Run on Friday, per MyAnimeList: the Boom Boom family, the trio of race contestants who show up early in Part 7. The second and third stages of the anime began streaming worldwide on Netflix on September 25, with new episodes weekly.
The new cast
- L.A. Boom Boom — Fumiyoshi Shioya (*Shangri-La Frontier*)
- Andre Boom Boom — Yoshiki Nakajima (*Kill Ao*)
- Benjamin Boom Boom — Jirō Saitō (*Fist of the North Star*)
The Boom Boom family is one of the first real Stand threats Johnny and Gyro face on the trail, so the casting lines up with where the weekly episodes are heading.
Production notes
Yasuhiro Kimura (*Golden Wind*) and Hideya Takahashi direct at David Production, with Toshiyuki Katō (*Stone Ocean*) as series director. Yasuko Kobayashi, who has written series composition for every JoJo anime part, handles the scripts again. Daisuke Tsumagari (*Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan*) designs the characters and serves as chief animation director, and Yugo Kanno (*Pluto*) composes the music.
Worth a slot?
If you're a JoJo fan, you're already watching. If you're new, Part 7 works better as an entry point than most people expect: it's set in an alternate universe, it has a new Joestar, and the cross-country horse race keeps the structure simple. Our Steel Ball Run where-to-watch and release guide covers the Netflix rollout, and the David Production ranking shows how the earlier JoJo parts score.
