Naruto is getting a new TV anime. Viz Media announced on Monday, September 28, that the franchise has a new "limited" television series in the works. The details come at the "NARUTO: What's Next?" panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10, at 5:00 p.m. EDT (2:00 p.m. PDT, or 6:00 a.m. JST on October 11), and the panel will be livestreamed worldwide.

Quick answer

A new limited Naruto TV anime is confirmed, with details due at NYCC on October 10, 2026. No title, studio, episode count or premiere window has been announced yet. Naruto's voice actress Junko Takeuchi, Sasuke's voice actor Noriaki Sugiyama and Pierrot Films executive producer Yoshihiro Tominaga will be on the panel. The original Naruto (Pierrot, 220 episodes) holds 7.74 adjusted on SenpaiRanks, and Naruto: Shippuuden (500 episodes) holds 8.27. Crunchyroll streams both in most regions.

The four episodes that never aired

There's an obvious question here. In 2023, for the anime's 20th anniversary, Pierrot announced four brand-new Naruto episodes set to air weekly from September 2023. A week before the premiere, they were delayed "to improve their quality," and nothing has been said about them since August 2023. ANN notes it's unclear whether this "limited" series is that project revived or something new. Either way, NYCC is when we find out.

Pierrot's track record makes the wait less scary. The studio just brought Bleach back at full strength with Thousand-Year Blood War, and even its delays on the final Calamity episodes were about protecting quality. A short, high-budget Naruto run would follow the same playbook. See where the studio's other work lands in our best Studio Pierrot anime ranking.

The franchise right now

Masashi Kishimoto ran Naruto in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to November 2014. The manga spawned Naruto, Naruto: Shippuuden, the Boruto sequel, OVAs, films, novels and stage plays. Hollywood is also involved: Lionsgate's live-action film has Destin Daniel Cretton (*Shang-Chi*) directing and Charles Melton in final negotiations to play Kakashi.
