The third and final Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club film, Kanketsu-hen Saishūshō, opens in Japanese theaters on February 5, 2027. Per Anime News Network, a new teaser confirmed the date and the theme song, "Dreaming Free," sung by the cast in character.
Quick answer
Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai Kanketsu-hen Saishūshō is the last film in the Nijigasaki "Kanketsu-hen" (finale) trilogy from Sunrise. It opens in Japan on February 5, 2027. The first film came out in September 2024 and the second in November 2025. The main cast and staff from the TV anime are back. No international release has been announced yet. The two TV seasons stream on Crunchyroll, and SenpaiRanks ranks them at a 7.31 (Season 1) and 7.42 (Season 2) Consensus score, which is high for an idol series.
How the trilogy is split
Nijigasaki has always been about individual idols rather than a single group, and the films follow that. The first film focused on six members: Ayumu, Kasumi, Shizuku, Kanata, Emma and Lanzhu. The second covered the other six: Karin, Ai, Setsuna, Rina, Shioriko and Mia. The third brings the whole club back together for the ending. "Dreaming Free" is the closing song.
Release date and watch order
If you're catching up before February, here's the order:
- Season 1 (2020, 13 episodes): the club forms around Yu and Ayumu.
- Season 2 (2022, 13 episodes): Shioriko, Mia and Lanzhu join.
- **OVA Next Sky** (2023): a short bridge episode.
- Kanketsu-hen films 1 and 2 (2024, 2025).
- Kanketsu-hen Saishūshō (February 5, 2027).
How it stacks up
In our best idol anime ranking, Nijigasaki sits near the top of the Love Live! franchise. Season 2's 7.42 beats a lot of bigger idol titles, which says the soloist approach worked. What to watch for next
The main question is an overseas release. Neither earlier Kanketsu-hen film has an announced international streaming date, so don't expect one right after the Japanese opening.
