What's new this time
Hasunosora began life as the Link! Like! Love Live! app project, and so far its animated outings have followed the 103rd through 105th classes. The TV series is the first to put the 106th class front and center — a passing-of-the-torch story about first-years discovering the club, rather than another round with the established units. Keeping it to seven episodes and one term suggests a tight arc rather than a full-cour slice of life.
Same team as the movie
This is essentially the crew behind the 3D film Love Live! Hasunosora Jogakuin School Idol Club: Bloom Garden Party, which opened in Japan in May. Per Anime News Network, the only changes are Hikari Komiya taking over as color key artist from Emi Chiba and Fumika Takahashi joining Hiroshi Tanaka as compositing director of photography. Fujisawa's résumé (Mushoku Tensei, Apocalypse Hotel) gives the music side real weight, and Maruto (White Album 2, Engage Kiss) is a writer who knows how to make a small cast carry drama.
