Putting this on your radar now so you're not the one playing catch-up in week three: Killed Again, Mr. Detective. drops April 3, 2026. LIDENFILMS handles the production, ongoing run, and the light novel it adapts has a reputation worth taking seriously.
The premise
Sakuya Otsuki is the son of a legendary detective, working to follow in his father's footsteps with his assistant, Lilithea. However, something's different about this high-school sleuth. Wherever he goes, he always manages to get himself entangled in his cases—as a murder victim! When Sakuya is tasked to infiltrate a luxury cruise ship, he finds himself killed once again. But every time he reopens his eyes, Lilithea is there by his side, ready to help him get to the bottom of the mystery... Source readers already know the cliff this arc is walking off. Newcomers get the cleanest opening anywhere — the studio framed episode one for people who've never touched the light novel.
Who's behind it
Production sits at LIDENFILMS; TBS, KlockWorx, Asmik Ace handle the committee. The studio's track record on adjacent material is the reason fans of the source went from cautious to optimistic the moment the staff list dropped.
When it airs
Fridays at 01:58 (JST). Ongoing run, episode count TBC. Same-day simulcast windows are on the usual Western streamers — check your local Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, or Hulu listing for the timed slot.
Worth the slot?
MAL has it at 6.23 off 3,158 ratings — not chart-topping, but the kind of number that holds when the rest of the season starts thinning out around week four. Slot it. Worst case you drop it episode four with a story still worth telling someone about.
